4 abstract tiles
We had to create for tiles that were abstract, or didn't look like anything. We all made very different tiles which really showed our voice.
30 Day Drawing Challenge
Every morning for the first few minutes of class, we would draw something on a drawing challenge picture. It was meant to get our creativity rolling to help us with our project.
Totem Pole
We had t make a totem pole with 4 symbols/stories that represented our lives. I used flames on the bottom and a #5 for my very first softball team, skyline and friends for my favorite favorite tv show (friends), heart beat because I want to be a nurse after college, and the face to show that I'm a happy person. These projects represented who we are.
Mind Map
Before we started our tea pots, we had to make a mind map to figure out exactly what we wanted to make our tea pots into. I really love Christmas, Disney, books, and music/tv shows. I tried to make it look like what I love came from my name by painting a cloud around with lines connecting to each part.
Teapot
For my teapot, I decided to do something Christmas related. I wanted to make it a reindeer and different from any other teapots, so I made the spout the nose, around the back is a scarf that comes out and is the handle, and the lid is the top of the head and the antlers.
Art in the Park Plate
Every year, the art department does a thing where we make piece that are all related and donate them to the parks department to be auctioned off. This year the theme was local landmark so I picked Downtown Noblesville as mine. I want to make it more 3D than 2d so instead of drawing on all of the restaurant signs I make each one it's own piece and slipped and scored it onto the plate itself. I used watercolor instead of glaze for this one since there were so many complex colors I had to use to make the signs look like the do on the square. Fortunately, mine was picked as one of the top 12 for the mayors luncheon so during the auction someone bought it.
Nesting Vessels
For this project we had to make 3 pots that fit inside of each, like nesting vessels, and then slip trial on them some design to enhance the project. It had to represent something from nature so I decided to do a flower as my main focus. Also, this was the first project that I threw solely on the wheel. I glazed it with bright and happy spring like colors becuase when I think of flowers I think happy and that's what I wanted people to see from the glaze.
Latern (in progress)
We had to make a laternbthat had light shine through to show positive and negative space. I decided to do a tree to keep the nature theme rolling from my last few projects. We made it high fire clay, so I will use high fire glaze (cappuccino) to glaze it.
